Our company is a small company and we actually do not manage the VAT taxe. So there is no VAT taxe to pay. The price you will have to pay is that displayed in store plus shipping costs.

Currently, we only deliver to certain countries. If your country is not in the list of available countries, you cannot order from the store.

All deliveries will be made with insurance and are done with a signature upon receipt. A phone number is required.

Prices do not include various customs and import charges. Please inquire about the various charges with your customs office. These costs must be paid to your administration upon receipt of your package.

At Gems by Fred, gemstone prices are not calculated based on carat. The gemstones being cut in France, it is mainly the time spent cutting a gemstone and the price of the raw material which will give the final price of the gemstone.

Unlike mass production of cut gemstones, here, each cut gemstone focuses all my attention in order to maximize all aspects.

Here in my workshop, the yield rate of a raw stone is the last thing considered. What matters is brilliance, extracting the best quality and color from a given raw stone. Next comes the choice of the complexity of the design in relation to the size of the stone (in particular, the number of facets) and the shape of the cut gemstone according to the shape of the rough.

Furthermore, the cutting precision of each facet and the size of the stone have a great influence on the time spent (and therefore the final price).

So each gemstone is a form of art far from repetition and routine. Each gemstone had its share of difficulty and unexpected events during cutting. Compromises and decisions to be made are common during cutting.

You will see it with your own eyes, "precision cut" gemstones have nothing to do with industrial "commercial" gemstones even if these are also cut by hand. “Commercial” gemstones also have a great advantage which is the low price but the sacrifice of precision is undeniable.

Keep in mind that if you find a perfect gemstone at a very low price, there is a good chance that the "ethical" aspect will be very poorly respected. Everything takes time and concentration.
